Question - Is this tennis elbow, if not what?

by Moffat
(Hamilton)

I have noticed that recently the area on the above my left elbow on the outside will begin to twitch slightly while doing push ups. There is also discomfort in that area while doing tricep extensions. The discomfort in the tricep extensions began before the twitching while doing push ups.

There is little to no pain right now, but I would like to find out what this is and what to do about it before I seriously injure myself.

Triceps tendonitis?
by: Bart - SII

From what you describe, it sounds more like triceps tendonitis. Tennis elbow is usually made worse with wrist extension. The soreness in the back of the elbow could be from triceps tendon overload, or you may have some calcification in the back of your elbow - this is the most common thing I have seen in my own patients.

If it is limiting your activities, I would recommend seeing a physician for a definitive diagnosis and treatment options.
