Question - Jammed finger? (x-ray or not)

Should i get and x-ray if my finger was hit by a ball and swelled to the size of my thumb (about).

Yes - an X-ray is a good idea

Even though most of the time an injury like this does not cause a fracture, any time you have a lot of swelling and pain, it is a good idea to get an X-ray just to make sure that there isn't a fracture.

Finger fractures can and do happen, and it is important that they are treated correctly so you avoid long term problems.
