Yes - an X-ray is a good idea
by: Bart - SII

Even though most of the time an injury like this does not cause a fracture, any time you have a lot of swelling and pain, it is a good idea to get an X-ray just to make sure that there isn't a fracture.

Finger fractures can and do happen, and it is important that they are treated correctly so you avoid long term problems.

Hope this helps - comment back with other questions.

by: Shatoya Thomas

My finger has been swollen for about a month now and it is sensitive to the touch. I know i spranged my finger because it swelled up instantly and i was in alot of pain. Now here it is a month later and i still havent went to get my finger checked out. When i touch it, it feels as if my finger is probably is in two different directions.Do i need help?
