I am a gymnast and i landed with a strait knee. It hurts when i run and put a lot of pressure on it. It hurts on the lower right of the knee cap. Do you think it's hyperextended?

It could be hyperextended
by: Bart - SII

It is very possible that you hyperextended your knee. Landing with a straight leg can cause injury to lots of different things - the ACL, the PCL, the Meniscus...If it doesn't start to feel better in a day or two with rest and ice, I would recommend getting in to see your doctor.

soccer knee injury
by: over 30 soccer mom

I am in my 40's and still love to play soccer. Today is Tuesday and I played a game Sunday evening where I injured my knee. (I have an orthopedic appt Friday morning). I believe the injury was a hyperextension of the knee - both the goalie and I were going for the ball and we collided. I think she hit my knee and pushed it back. I think I felt a pop. Some immediate pain but not bad. I exited the field but was able to run and play pain free to mild the rest of the game. Although I have some pain now I do not have a lot however, my knee is quite swollen, especially at the end of the day. Most of the swelling is medial and some posterior. There is some medial bruising also. Could a serious knee injury involve a lot of swelling, some bruising but (what I would call) moderate to mild pain? Wondered what you think.
