Question - Knee Pain

In basketball practice I made a cut and felt a sharp pain in my left knee. After that, running and jumping has caused much pain in my knee. I went to an athletic trainer and they told me I had tendinitis and to ice and take ibuprofen. It continues to be very painful during practice. I can feel rubbing and clicking in my knee when I walk. What is wrong with my knee? Should I still be playing basketball or will it make it worse?

If this has been going on for more than a few days and you are not feeling any relief, you should see your doctor for an evaluation - likely a clinical exam and an MRI. Clicking and rubbing sensations suggest possible meniscus damage.

Continuing to play could make you more sore and irritate the tissue. Hard to say if it will cause more actual structural damage until you know exactly what is going on.
