Question - Knee Problems (multiple patella dislocations)

by Thomas
(Charlotte,NC)

Hi My name is Thomas.

I dislocated my right knee. I had an MRI and it said the chondral surfaces in the lateral compartment and patellofemoral compartment are preserved, and there is irregularity of the undersurface of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus which represent a small tear.

I had my meniscus repaired. But it still felt shaky and it was popping while in rehab. A few months after now I dislocated the same knee again, and this time it is my patella.

Only trying to catch my wife. It felt the same way as when I injured it the first time.

Do you think this probably come from my first injury?

I never had any problems before.

Thanks

Thomas

Could be related...
by: Bart - SII

The two injuries could be related - hard to say. Did you go through rehab after your first surgery, or did you work on stuff at home on your own?

Often very small weakness or restrictions in the knee after one surgery can lead to problems and re-injury.

Talk to your doctor and make sure that you are able to go through formal rehabilitation after this current injury - it will be the best thing for your knee.
