friction massage

It is very possible that you have some scar tissue developed under your incision site. This can limit your mobility, and it can also become irritated with motion causing the knee to be tender.

One thing that may help is to perform friction massage over the incision site and the scar. This can help to loosen the underlying tissue and decrease the tightness/hardness, taking stress off of the tissue when the knee moves.

You can read more about friction massage and how it works. Basically, it is rubbing the area daily to try to break up the scar tissue - the downside is that it is usually painful - the upside is the knee usually feels better afterwards.
