Question - Lateral Release (grade IV chondromalacia)

I had surgery for Class IV Chondromalacia and a lateral release 7 weeks ago and still have limited movement and swelling. I have started having a hot feeling in my foot that comes and goes almost hourly. What could be causing this and how long does it take to totally recover from this type of surgery? I still have to use crutches when I walk lond distances. Is this normal also?

Grade IV chondromalacia is fairly significant and cause a lot of post-op pain and swelling - same with a lateral release.

You need to follow up with your doctor regarding your "hot" foot symptoms - this could be swelling, nerve irritation or other possible things but needs to be addressed with your doctor. Following up is also a good idea since you are not progressing as you would expect. It isn't abnormal, but 7 weeks is a little longer than usual for the symptoms you are describing.
