Question - Patellar femoral (elliptical trainer pain)

by Lisa
(Minneapolis, MN USA)

I am an active 46 year old female who had to get rid of her treadmill due to sesamoiditis. I bought an eliptical but I have femoral petellar/chondromalacia in my right knee and for some reason my knee starts to bother me after I've used the eliptical. I thought elipticals were good for knees.

I really need to be able to use my eliptical and I'm wondering if you have suggestions as to why I'm having difficulty with it? It's adjustable from 18 inch stride to 24 inches. I am 4'11 and I weigh 104 pounds. I do not use any resisitance. I also wear foot orthotics for pronation.

Thanks.
