Stick with the rehab...
by: Bart - SII

I often have patients who are continuing to play while they are in rehabilitation. Sometimes this works well, however sometimes it leads to us "spinning our wheels". If we are making progress in rehabilitation to decrease pain, and then the playing or practicing causes an increase in pain that is significant, it slows the rehab process.

If his activities are not slowing the recovery, then he should be able to continue with them. However, if you and he do not feel like you are making progress in rehab, it could be because of the continued activities. It is a hard decision to make to stop playing, but since he is only 13, he has a lot of time left to play sports in school and beyond - taking care of his problem now will allow for a much more enjoyable time in sports in the future.

Hope this helps - comment back if you have other questions.
