Question - pfs patella femoral syndrome (after knee replacement)

(ny )

I had a knee replacement and now my kneecap keeps moving around causing a lot of pain and cracking and popping my pt says it is patella femoral syndrome and stated that a knee brace might help that holds the kneecap in place. If that don't help i might need an artifical kneecap. Will that help? i don't know if i want anymore surgeries i already had 5 in the past 5 yrs

A brace may help
by: Bart - SII

A patella stabilizer may help with your problem. It not only helps to maintain patella position, but it provides compression of the joint which will allow the muscles to function at a higher level. It is definitely worth a try, as an $80 brace is a much better option than a multi-thousand dollar surgery and the recovery.

Knee brace
by: Joe

I had TKR in September 2008 and 6 prior knee surgeries in the past 5 years and I am now recovering from a patellar replacement (just 6 1/2 months after TKR) original artificial knee cap needed to be replaced so my advise to you would be to try the knee brace to avoid what I just went through. Good luck
