Question - Shoulder Injury (golf injury)

Recently I was playing Golf, and as I hit the ball, I believe I hyper extended my Left Arm,.... Pain and aches are almost constant - X-ray negative. I don't know if I strained a muscle, or
did something to a tendon or ligament.

1. Should I get a MRI ?
2. What tests can I do myself to determine injured area

Thanks

Marvin

Did you see your family doctor or the ER?
by: Bart - SII

You most likely need a good physical evaluation, either with your family doctor or an orthopedic doctor, or even with an Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist - if you saw one of these clinicians and still don't have a clear cut diagnosis, then an MRI is in order.

If you went to the ER for your X-rays, you probably didn't get a full, thorough evaluation. In the Emergency Room, they make sure you don't have any broken bones or life threatening injuries, and then refer you to your family doctor or an orthopedist.

It could be nothing major in your shoulder, or you could have a muscle strain or joint sprain. Either way, you should get it looked at and figure out exactly what is going on so that you can choose the best treatment options.
