How did you hurt it?
by: Bart - SII

It sounds like it could be a wrist sprain, or it could be a strain of the muscles that move your thumb.

Do you remember doing anything that caused an injury to your thumb or wrist recently, or was this something that just came out of the blue? Most of the time a wrist sprain comes from some type of injury, or repetitive stresses on the tissues.

If this is causing you significant pain or problems using your hand normally, you should definitely get in to see your doctor and have it checked out.

Hope this helps - comment back with other questions.

deQuervain’s Tendonitis
by: ME flight attendant

i was just at the clinic. doc told me it's de Quervain's tendonitis or tenosynovitis, a condition brought on by irritation or inflammation of the wrist tendons at the base of the thumb. he gave me a splint wrist brace which i need to wear for 5days and im taking anti-inflammatory meds for 5days.
