by Ashley

How long after having tib/fib surgery when they put 8 screws and a rod will it take to start physical therapy and walk again?

Also do they always go in later and remove the hardware?? How long is the recovery for that??

therapy after surgery

You will probably need to ask your doctor for an answer to your question about when you will start therapy. Some physicians will start quickly after surgery, others will wait - It could be anywhere from 2-8 weeks before you start therapy - it just depends on your doctor.

Removing the hardware isn't always necessary - only if it causes problems. Recovery from that is usually quick, much quicker than the first surgery.
