Queston - Lateral Release Surgery Recovery (running)

by Hilary
(Alexandria,VA)

I am going to have the lateral release surgery in July and i was wondering how long after i can run? My legs are very strong already because I have done 2 rounds of physical therapy each for 6 weeks.

Maybe 6-8 Weeks...

Most of it depends on your surgeon and when they want to let you start running, based on their philosophies for this specific procedure. It will also depend on how long it takes you to regain your strength, motion, balance, etc.

Most of my patients are able to start running again on level surfaces around 6 weeks after surgery. Everyone is different, but that is probably a good guess.

Hope this helps - comment back with other questions.
