Recurrent Ankle ligament tear advice please

by betty beehive
(UK)

years ago whilst Pregnant, I slipped sideways down a step, and rupture all three ankle ligaments. I was put in a walking cast for 12 + 4 weeks, and was then given physiotherapy. My ankle has since been lax-unstable.

Last week, I slipped down 3 stairs, and tore my talofibular (?) ligament.I have been told to rest to reduce swelling, but not casted, etc. My concern is the pain over the site of the cuboid bone. my Dr " doesn't think" its broken, but won't xray as its been too long any way ( his words)
Does anyone have any advice for me...treatment excersises etc. I am in the uk!
thanks

Betty

Rest, ice, compression, elevation to help reduce swelling. Working on gentle range of motion exercises and give it time. If your pain over the cuboid continues or gets worse, seek a re-evaluation. If it is fractured, it will still show up on an X-ray, even a couple weeks after injury.
