Right knee ACL surgery

by Ivonne
(Union, NJ)

I had surgery on Oct 29th, didn't start therapy until about a month ago. My problem is that I'm having very sharp pain on the sides of the knee, is this normal? My knee is constantly swollen, all the way down to the leg ankle and foot, is this normal also? and the last thing that I find very strange is that my right leg seems to be a bit darker than my left leg! any ideas why?
Thanks

ACL pain swelling

It is normal to have some pains in the knee occasionally, however, sharp pains this far out is likely not normal - it could be scar tissue, it could be any number of things, but it is worth a call to the doctor just to make sure everything is ok. Same thing with the swelling - two months out you shouldn't have a lot of swelling - some here and there but not as much as you are describing. You could just be a slower healer, but I would recommend a recheck just to be safe.
