Senior in highschool out for the season (FOOTBALL)

I am a Senior in high school. I am one of the best linemen my school. I played football freshmen and sophomore year. Unfortunately i didn't get to play my junior year. During camp i dislocated my knee cap.

I went to the doctor and he told me i could still play. I needed to do some rehab. The rehab failed. When the doctor took more x-rays he told me that my knee cap is slightly out of place. I knew this because i had constant pain in my knee when i bent it. I needed to get surgery.

I worked out my hardest to prepare for next season. I got my leg all strong and my self. I became the a stronger and better linemen. I had so much to prove. So Camp 2008 began and i was prepared. First day of camp was so much fun. Then my ACL tore the next day.

We were running a couple of plays. The coach called 36 counter. It meant i need to pull. So i pulled and went down field looking for somebody to get. That person was to my right. I was running straight then i quickly turned to block him. At that moment my knee gave out. I thought it was just a knee sprain. Then the MRI results came in. I was afraid i might not even play any more. When i went to the doctor he told me the bad news. It killed me and i couldn't handle it.

Now all i do is watch the team. I know for a fact the team needed me. We have only about 33 kids on our team. We don't have that many linemen so when i got hurt it also hurt the line. I still fully support my team no matter what win or lose.

Thanks so much for sharing your story. I am sure it is a hard one to tell. There are others on this site, describing injuries, the rehab and hard work to get back just to suffer another injury. It isn't fair, and it isn't any fun. I understand how much it must be killing you to not be able to play, especially your senior season.

Keep supporting your team. As a senior, you have the experiences to help the underclassmen improve and play their hearts out.

Good luck with your recovery and your teams season.

Bart
