severe pain in crook of elbow, both arms

by Marie

I have been lift weights for quite some time and this problem has never been an issue. However, recently I have severe pain in both of the tendons or muscles in the crook of my elbow. Specifically the outer portion. The pain sometimes runs up my shoulder and seems to be worse in the mornings. My biceps feel pumped and tight all the time like I've just lifted when I haven't. Any help would be great as I've had to lay off any lifting at all.

This is concerning, the way your symptoms present. It is normal to have muscle pain after a heavy workout, but this should subside after resting. You shouldn't continue to have feelings of being pumped up without a workout.

I would be concerned with the possibility of a vascular lesion or obstruction. Restriction of the venous return can cause pain, swelling, and tightness in the extremities. I have seen this in one other patient, but it was only on one side.

Please get in to see your doctor about this and get to the bottom of it.
