Sorcha's ACL Surgery

Hello. My name is Sorcha Cox; I'm now 18 years old.
I tore my ACL & partially tore my MCL last November, on the night before Thanksgiving during a basketball game. It was the biggest game of the year and there were only 2 minutes left in the game when I got hurt =/ which was upsetting. But anyway, I ended up having surgery on Decemeber 11, 2009, in which the doctor replaced my ACL with a cadaver. The doctor was also able to save my MCL and sew it back together, which apparently is a very rare thing.
After surgery, I was in the most pain ( physically & emotionally ) of my entire life. It was completely terrible :( But, once I could get out of bed, I attended physical therapy every single day and worked very hard during those sessions. I ended up sprinting about a month-and-a-half to two months later, and the muscle size of my injured leg was already 2 inches larger in diameter than my normal leg. I guess this was nearly an impossible recovery, but I was determined to come back in time for softball season, which I did. And I still met my season goals of All-TEC and All-Area team. I had to wear a DONjoy Brace, though, which I still wear when I play volleyball and basketball, as well.
So, just because you have this injury does not mean you can't play sports again. ( that was my main concern ) And now, I want to be a physical therapist :) So, I guess everythin happens for a reason. I'm glad it happened; now, I don't take things for granted like I did before. And now, my knee doesn't even really bother me.
Tomorrow is the first basketball practice of the season since my injury last year...................... I CAN'T WAIT! I am so excited. :) WISH ME LUCK!! I WISH YOU ALL LUCK AS WELL IN YOUR ACL RECOVERY ENDEAVORS.
Sincerely,
ACL CAN'T STOP THIS:)
