I broke my ankle 16 years ago and have recently taken up jogging again. I have the correct footwear and have not been pushing myself too hard, but my after the 2nd week of jogging my right ankle has swollen up and is very painful around the area of the old injury. I have tried strapping the ankle which helps to some degree during the run, but afterwards my ankle aches terribly. Is there anything preventative I can do or do I have to give up my jogging?
