I first injured my knee last year (July 08 sometime) playing basketball while at work. I went right and planted my right leg which was ok but went left instead..... my brain failed to tell my right leg this and I ended up twisting my knee. I let it go and jsut stayed off it and found that I had a little sac filled with fluid on the inside on my leg. The fluid didn't do much as far as I know other than move while doing laying hamstrings which bothered the hell out of me.
Well needless to say I injured it again in Jan 09 and did the samething, I let the swelling go down and just kept walking thinking it would go away. Well I deployed to Iraq and while I was there I made sure I exercised the leg along with the rest of the body and ran the best I could without stressing it too much.
I returned and completed a Physical Fitness test and ran my 1.5 miles in 12:23 which I think is pretty good for a possible minicus/ACL tear. I am opting for surgery because I want to be back to where I was before the injury.
It's hard for me to believe that I have a severe injury because I was doing leg presses with 200-300lbs just on the injured leg and 50-75lbs for leg extensions again just on the injured leg. I am hoping that this surgery will at least get me back to 90% so I can get back to the gym and start exercising.
