Sunny's ACL

1 day after surgery

1 day after surgery

Tore my ACL on Oct 4th and had my ACL construction on Dec 4th using patella graph. Now 2 days post op, have been icing using polar care and living on pain killers. The pain was less on first night but was very bad the second night despite 3 pain killer tablets.

Before surgery i thought things wold be ok and i can be self dependent after 3 days of surgery but that is not the case. Ppl having acl construction in future make sure some help is there at home for a week at least. I'm scheduled to meet my surgeon on 10th for removing my dressing and staring my pt.

how are you doing now?
by: candy

I hope you are okay by the time you read this post. My son is 14 years old and is waiting to have the surgery as the doctor said his growth plate is still open and they want to wait a year. He is in physical therapy. I am so nervous about the waiting and the surgery. He has a right knee complete acl tear. Please advise how you are at this point. Lots of luck to you.

10 days after surgery
by: sunny

Hi candy, sorry to hear about your son's injury, good luck with surgery. As for me, feeling slightly better after 10 days. had my first pt after 7 days and have been doing the exercises regularly at home for 2 hrs/day. The pain is managable now as i have stopped taking pain killers now. the major pain i have is when doing leg raises. the patella portion hurts very very bad. looks like i will be on crutches for another 7-10 days though i'm able to walk without them very slowly with my brace.

I feel your pain
by: Michelle

I had my right knee ACL reconstruction on November 14th. The first 2 days I had no pain, then for the next week I had HORRIBLE pain. I thought it would never get better, but it did. I have been "walking" (very slowly with a slight limp still) for about 2 1/2 weeks. The leg raises were painful for me too, but keep doing them! It will get easier. If you go back to work try to stay off of your feet as much as possible. My swelling was pretty much gone but my first day back to work it swelled up like it first looked after surgery. Stay positive and I hope your recovery goes well!

I Had Same Surgery - interested in how you are doing
by: DeAnna

Hi Sunny. I had meniscuous / ACL Repair using patellar tendon on Nov 6 on my right leg and was definitely surprised by the recovery and pain I have had. Now, 2 months later my PT is going well and I am driving, but have horrible pain going down the stairs or doing any type of weight bearing knee bend with my bad leg. Are you experiencing the same thing? My PT says everyone is different, but I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my recovery.
