Surgery May 26 ... Making progress

I had my ACL reconstructed (hamstring tendon graft) and a meniscus cleanup 16 days ago. Surgeon said not to start physio until the post-op appointment which was 2 weeks after surgery. Had the appointment earlier this week and when I asked if I should start physio, I was told that I can start an at-home physio program (for which he provided the instructions - included some general exercises). When I asked if I would have to attend formal physio at any point, he said that it wasn't necessary if I was making progress on my own and doing the recommended exercises at home. Now, is this possible?

My knee is feeling good. Weaned off the pain meds this week and I have complete extension and flexion is about 130 degrees (only about 4 inches from heel to butt). Extremely surprised by this and now hoping to get full flexion sometime next week or at worst 1 month post-op.

Cheers for the advice. This site has been a tremendous help.
