I am a 36yr old male and I tore my ACL & partial meniscus at the boing jump center in Tampa,Fl on Nov 6th. It is a gym full of trampolines all connected together. It was my daughters 8th Birthday party and they let the parents get out and jump for free so I said sure why not...bad mistake. I did about 3 or 4 backflips and when I landed a little crooked on one my left knee gave out and I heard the loud pop. I thought I broke my leg at first but after a few minutes of moaning I realized it was my knee.
The pain was intense but I didn't let it ruin the B-day party. I went to PT for a few weeks to get my extension back and had surgery on Dec 7, 2010. I went with the donor tendon because the doc said I would have less post-op pain so I was all for that. I started PT 2 weeks after surgery and was off crutches at the beginning of week 3. I'm at the beginning of week 10 now and feel pretty good with little to no pain. I'm at 0 extension and around 140-145 flexion. I still can't touch my foot to my butt like my good leg but my therapist says it will come around with time. My quad is still weak compared to my good leg but it gets better every week and I'm starting to see muscle there again. I can walk up and down stairs now but going down tall steps still hurts a little. Recovery is hard work and seems like forever but I can definitely see progress so I am good with that.
