Twin 13 year old girls surgery 1 months post op.

Hi my name is Savannah I'm 13 I tore my acl when I was 12 and (my twin sister tore hers at the age of 10!) I planned to get surgery 6 months after my injury (with my growth plates being still open) But a family problem came up and I had to miss it, but holding off surgery was good because my growth plates are closed when I got it. Anyway a month ago I had the surgery and my twin sister had it on the same day as me. The surgeries went well...you think one acl surgery is hard try having two different people in the same house! Yeah but I am walking without a brace and I am bending 120 degrees and straightening all the way. I have pain in my shin but that is it. My sister is a little behind me but she also had meniscus tear and stuff. I just want to say if a 13 year old can do it then you probably can! And stay positive and work on physical therapy. :)

two ACL surgeries = busy busy parents!
by: Bart - SII

Wow - I am sure your parents are super busy taking care of both of you...maybe not so much now, but right after surgery I am sure.

Are you and your sister going to rehab together? It might be nice to have someone to share your experiences with and to keep each other motivated.

Thanks for sharing your story!

Awww...your story is really unique. It's awful that you both had to experience this injury, and at such young ages too (I thought I had it bad and I was 21 when I ruptured my ACL). On the bright side, it must be nice to have someone else at home who understands completely what you're going through. I hope your recoveries are going well.
