When to worry about the swelling?

I jumped and when I landed my knee popped out... inward toward my other. It immediately popped back in and the pain was intense. Yes I heard a pop. I knew they would ask because 2 years prior I had blown out the ACL on the opposite knee.

From the beginning I told my husband that this one felt a lot different from the last injury.
Of course the first time my knee didn't pop out of place.

MRI reports tear to the ACL and damage to the MCL and bone bruise.

Ortho said 1st time and this time you can't cause anymore damage than has been done. So this time I made sure to R.I.C.E right away but u didn't want it to get stiff so worked. Things were going well but from the very beginning i told the doc the pain went from my toes to my hip.
Well I was doing okay, tolerating it, swelling was manageable.....til now.

For the last 3 days the swelling has been unmanageable and the pain not too far behind.

ENTIRE leg is purple and swollen. Sometimes I am unable to take the next step.....Next appointment isn't for another 3 weeks....should I worry or suck it up?

Recheck with your doctor

While swelling and bruising is fairly common, it sounds like you have more than what would be expected. I would recommend rechecking with you doctor as soon as possible, just to make sure everything is ok. If nothing else, it will set your mind at ease about the injury - it may also be beneficial to get into therapy to treat/control the swelling and the pain. It is always better to be safe than sorry.
