Will the bone heal if not casted or splinted?

Follow Up - Bart @ SII

Can you be more specific as to which fractured bone you are referring to? Some bones will heal without being casted and splinted, others will not.

Will the Bone Heal If Not Casted or Splinted

What Bart said is true. I had a broken Great toe,(big toe) it only needed to be taped and I wore steel toed men's Chukka boots. It healed fine. When I chipped a bone in my ankle, I needed a gel cast for 16 weeks, which is a flexible plastic cast held onto the leg with velcro straps and it has removable gel inserts. When I had a fractured sesimoid bone in the foot, I had what they called a soft cast, Una boot that the Dr. reapplied frequently. I could walk in it but I had to have a special shoe to wear with it. There's all kinds of new casts now, not just the old inflexible plaster ones. See an orthopedist and find out what you need.
