I had my ACL reconstruction and Meniscus repair last friday which was on 9th of the september. I researched all the info about the ways the surgeon perform the procedure. Wow..I was freaked out when i watched a you tube video clip that showed the acl reconstruction...but..well...On the day of surgery...of course i was scared and nervous...Nurse tried to calm me down by giving little jokes and stuff like that...Once you enter the surgery room....it's FREEZING!!!!!!!!! I felt like i was in North pole..However...once they put you under anesthesia..you are gonna be passed out..in a second...You would feel like you are in sleep...once you wake up from anesthesia..you don't feel any pain...you would feel numbness...or you would be hyper due to the chemical stuff they used for anesthesia..
So..after the surgery..you will be fine w/o feeling any pain....you would be able to walk with crutches at first day..
However...the day after the surgery is the day you feel most pain and you won;t be able to move...you just have to relax and lay down on bed..and take vicodin 2-4 tablets every4-6hours..
But i took more than that...because it was really painful and i was about to cry...
I am at my second week after acl surgery..it's still hard to walk without the crutches but it's less painful than the first week..but i still feel pain while i am in sleep..I am still taking vicodin..and my doc asked me to keep straightening my knee up even thou its hurting..because knee extension helps your knee get better faster..
