Zack's Patella Femoral Problem

A few years back I had a slight tear in my hamstring. After the recovery I have had frequent pain ever since. I was told I have pf syndrome. I have gone through countless hours of pt and doing quad and hip strengthening on my own. My VMO is still weak and you can tell its not as strong as my other one. I am a former college basketball player and want to keep playing without pain in my knee, but I don't know what else to do anymore.

patella femoral syndrome

If you have gone through extensive rehabilitation that addressed all of the possible causes of PFS - hip mobility restrictions, hip abductor and external rotator weakness, hamstring tightness, over pronation at the foot, etc - then you may be a candidate for surgical intervention, depending on what your physician thinks is causing the problem mechanically.

I would discuss your options with your doctor.
