Zak's ACL Surgery

by Zakaria

I was playing soccer when I got injured, defender miss controlled the ball and I went for the ball, right when I decided to control the ball he came out of nowhere and ran my planted foot over.

Everything happened so quick and I heard cracked sound in my knee PAINFUL. I was so ignorant on knee injuries thinking that it would never happen to me.

I went to the E.R. and they took an x-ray, results came back quickly. He said it looks like you did not fracture any bone he also moved my knee around did some tests and sent me home after diagnosing a ligament sprain and gave me a splint to take home.

After a few weeks I felt that I was back to normal wearing a brace I went back to playing just a pick up game played the whole game but right at the very end I decided to do a hard kick (not the brightest idea) my left leg gave out on me and snapped again.

I decided to do an MRI, results came back ACL and slight MENISCUS tear. Devastated soccer is what I love and to be sidelined no way, I scheduled a surgery date 11/23/2011 which is Wednesday, which is today and I'm soo nervous.

But I put my faith in Allah I will be fine.

Wish me luck :)

patience NEW
by: Zak

You most definitely will come back as strong, but it all depends on you. Patience and hard work will get you through this. Your competitive so take this as a challenge to complete. Also look up Adrian Peterson, an athlete who tore his ACL, as an inspiration because he completely owned his injury by coming back harder and stronger than ever. So I'll leave you with this, be patient because ACL is a process. Good luck mate.

Thank you guys...appreciated

@ Bart
Thank you...yeah its been a week now and the surgery was a success, acl reconstructed and lateral meniscus repaired. But the pain was almost a 9/10 for me sucked real bad, it was right after the numbness on my leg wore out, maybe its mostly because I wasn't taking the pain medication the right time. You have to stay ahead of the pain. Now the pain is manageable. I have no intentions of trying to hurry the process I'm gonna take my time to heal back to perfect. Thanks for the wishes Bart.

@anonymous
Thank you...and best of luck on your surgery. Football is life I will go back to it after the grueling process of rehab and I'm sure you will get back out there again. Make sure you focus hard on your pre-op, to reduce the pain after the surgery. Post back how your surgery goes. GOOD LUCK

Good Luck

I tore my cartligae on outside of knee, tore thr medial ligaments inside of knee, complete and partial tears to meniscus and complete rupture of acl in 1 awkward stride on soccer pitch 8 weeks ago, scheduled for surgery in next 4-8 weeks, that will be a total of 13 months out of football if I decide to return at rip old age of 33 (near 34 by then). I played 4 times a week and match on Saturday, very frustrating. I ALSO THOUGHT IT COULD NEVER HAPPEN TO ME!!

Hope you are doing well!
by: Bart - Sports Injury Info

Surgery almost a week ago now - I hope you are doing well. It is frustrating to be out of action, but with some hard work and time, you should be back on the field.

Just be sure to do all of your rehab, and take the time to heal and not push too fast.

Best of luck!

Bart
